My best friend is turning six on Saturday, or 42, depending on how you do your calculations. I've had a party for her every year, even if I'm the only guest. There are gifts, I bake her a little apple, peanut butter and beef cake, last year there was ice cream. She humours me by wearing the a party hat for a little while. Sometimes it can be frustrating having a best friend who doesn't love birthdays or parties as much as I do, but our differences are part of what keep our friendship going. I'm thinking this year, maybe we'll invite some of our other friends over for cake, although I doubt any of them will wear the party hats. I normally love balloons, but we adopted my best friend's sister in December, and balloons are pretty high up on her list of fears, so we'll veto those, and hope she learns they aren't terrifying monsters by next July.
I am so excited to give this party a theme, even if the theme is just "doggos". I'll bake a dog cake, maybe some cookies for the guests. Instead of gifts, I would love for our friends to donate a toy or a collar to the local shelter. I wonder if I could come up with doggo party games, maybe pin the collar on the human? Doggo twister? A scavenger hunt?? Could I get the dogs doing crafts? Paw print paintings would be so amazing to take home! And of course, one of my favourite things about a party... the goody bag!! Maybe I'm going overboard...? As an event coordinator, I sometimes come up with these ideas for parties and just want to run with them. Like a dog birthday party. I know people love their dogs, I know people spend money on their dogs, but would people hire an event planner for their dogs? (Seriously, I hope so because a dog birthday party makes me so happy I could burst!). Until that someone comes calling, looking to hire me to plan a party for their best friend, I'll have to be content forcing mine to have a good time at her party. I'm sure deep down, she appreciates the effort.

I thought July would be an extremely boring month. People wanted to get married in June that much that July had been one of the very unassuming choice of people. I would strongly suggest you get married in July if I were you. I wouldn't go with the usual June bandwagon. July has a very nice weather anywhere you go in the world. You don't need to look far from June to pick a nice date. You might say your friends could be too busy with other things but I am 100% sure they are bored in July and would rather go to your parties.
