Tickets are officially on sale for Disney’s The Lion King, being shown outside at the 3-eh stage (behind the Ramada), on a 17-foot inflatable screen on July 12!! I’ve got a small surprise planned for the first 100 people through the gates...
I am so excited to be showing this movie, the first of FOUR this summer!!! This movie, and all the Disney moves of that era, were a huge part of my childhood. My mom would take my sister and I to the newest Disney movie at the theatre every year, and The Lion King was definitely in my top three. My sister, who is five years younger than me, loved this one too. And July 12th is her birthday, so seemed like the perfect day for this. I cannot wait to sing along to The Lion King songs during the show, don’t worry though, I’m not trying to torture anyone, so I’ll sing along inside my head. Hakuna Matata, Can You Feel the Love Tonight and I Just Can’t Wait to be King have been on repeat in my head ever since I confirmed the movie date. Yesterday, I was singing Hakuna Matata in the show actually. Is it weird I still know every word? I think one of my favourite things about holding these movie nights is know that someday, these kids who come to the movie here are going to be adults, humming along to whatever song, and this will be their memory. How awesome is that? I love love love being able to play a small part in making a memory for someone. There’s just something so amazing about that. So let’s get those memories made! Tickets are on sale, and I cannot wait to see you at the show!!

The countdown for the first outdoor movie night is on! Only 19 days until I am showing Disney's The Lion King on a 17-foot inflatable screen at the 3-Eh stage (behind the Ramada) in Creston, BC! I am super excited, and I think it will be an awesome night!
Tickets will be going on sale next Thursday for the event, and you're going to want to get there early on July 12th to make sure you get your blanket, or chair, (or portable hammock?) set up in exactly the spot you want! Bring some snacks, and your kids, or your friends, or your friend's kids (or kid's friends!) and get settled in for a Disney classic. The best part is, were outside! Under the stars! So if you need to sing along to Hakuna Matata... you totally can! I know I will be! ![]() I have a tendency to go overboard when it comes to theme parties. Apparently, I also find a way to take a theme to the extreme on a random Tuesday in June. It all started with margaritas. I was invited to a "learn to knit" party by the owner of Knittable. She creates these adorable knitting kits for beginners, I bought one, and I am sooo excited to try to learn! (The kit comes with a great little instruction booklet, but I feel like I definitely need extra help, so am really thrilled to have the opportunity to get tips from the expert herself!!). She mentioned she might be making margaritas, and that's where I went down the extreme theme rabbit hole. In addition to loving parties, I also love to bake. Anything to do with parties is my kind of thing, so when I heard margaritas, I offered to bring a snack to the knitting session, and what goes better with margaritas than mini margarita cheesecakes?? Seriously, these things are to die for. That should have been the end of it, but of course, I can't ignore an opportunity to turn my life into a theme, so while at the grocery store grabbing a couple of ingredients, I also bought all the fixings for tacos. And before I started the cheesecakes, I spent a few hours in the kitchen baking cheddar jalapeno mini-breads and some summer shaped sugar cookies --- which I decorated as flowers and citrus fruit. Limes specifically, as well as lemons, oranges, and grapefruit. I was in the kitchen for hours, and as I stepped back and surveyed my work, I realized, I themed every single thing around margaritas, or at least, margaritas inspired my grocery shopping, my cookie decorating and my bread flavoring. Now all I need Is an actual margarita in my hand to go with all these snacks.... I have great news! I have confirmed the dates for not just one, but FOUR outdoor movie nights in Creston, BC this summer! FOUR!! I am so excited!
If you haven't heard, I will be showing a family friendly movie on a huge 17 foot inflatable movie screen outside at the 3-Eh stage (behind the Ramada hotel) in Creston. Think drive in, but without the car. These outdoor movie nights are aimed at providing a fun, family activity during the summer, although I am sure you'll enjoy it, even if you come by yourself! So get ready, because on Thursday, July 12th you, your family and your friends will all be able to enjoy Disney’s The Lion King outside on the 17 big screen! The show will begin at sundown. So bring a blanket, bring a chair, pack some snacks, and I cannot wait to see you there! Tickets will be sold in advance and at the door, and group rates are available, stay tuned for more information about where to get yours!! ![]() Starting an event planning business, it is impossible not to become a bit wedding obsessed... especially in June!! I am not ashamed to admit I went into the local wedding shop the other day and fell in love with a wedding gown. Unfortunately, even though I ask him weekly, my husband says we cannot have another wedding (to each other again clearly! and to be fair, we have only been married nine months so....) My second wedding, the one nine months ago, was the best wedding I have ever been to ever. But that's a throwback for another Thursday. Today's #tbt is dedicated to my first wedding. When I think about weddings, and wedding planning, I find it helpful to remember your goal for the day, aside from actually getting married of course. And my goals at my first wedding, while well-intended, were not quite right, which meant that I, and probably those closest to me, could not relax and enjoy the day. Younger me wanted the WEDDING! You know the one, every family member, every friend going as far back as kindergarten gets an invite. Details are planned down to the minute (seriously, I recently found my schedule for the wedding day, and I had it broken down to the minute!!). I overspent my budget by a lot, mostly because I didn't have anyone to keep me on track. I was, admittedly, a bridezilla. But WHY? What were my goals on that day? My first mistake was trying to please every single one of my 250 guests, without actually knowing what would please them. This meant my wedding was disjointed and over-planned. I also wanted to relive some of those wedding moments from my childhood, the weddings of my aunts and uncles, the small town weddings in halls where everyone just seemed so happy. So I invited everyone I knew, and then I missed my goal because I quickly learned there was no way I could thank every single one of those people for showing up, and then instead of showing love, I felt guilty for ignoring the people closest to me. Don't get me wrong, from what I remember, it was a wonderful day. I was surrounded by every single person I knew, and their support felt good. My invitations, cake, dress and flowers were beautiful. I carried my wedding colours through every part of the day. But I didn't get a chance to stop, breathe, and enjoy my day. I tried to do it all, and in the end, missed out on what it really should have been about... celebrating and enjoying the moments. I now know though, I should have given my bridezilla self a stern talking to, and welcomed the help that was offered and available. |
